Brand

Popular suburbs with many detached houses

Brand is situated towards the southeast of the city and – like most of Aachen’s outer districts – used to be an independent village.
So independent indeed, that in its history, the people of Brand used to stand up to their more powerful neighbors in the city more than once, their obstinacy being symbolized by the “Brander Stier”, a bull whose bronze sculpture now proudly overlooks the marketplace. Nowadays, the former village not only has made its peace with the city, but has become a part of it, which makes Brand a very desirable place to live. Big houses with gardens, all the shopping facilities one could wish for, schools, sport facilities and a municipal swimming-pool…the list is quite impressive.

And that’s not all, because among the advantages of the district is also its location: towards the West, the main artery Trierer Straße leads right into Aachen’s city center, covered by an excellent bus connection.
There is a direct highway access right on the border of the district which puts Brand – in terms of driving time – closer to Düsseldorf or Cologne than any other place in Aachen.
A lot of important businesses like Grünenthal, FEV, and Babor have their facilities just on the other side of the highway, keeping the time for Brand residents to travel to work just under ten minutes.

All the while, towards the east, the beautiful valley of the Inde River opens up and the lovely medieval town of Kornelimünster is just a short bike trip away.
